Confidence Through Creativity
The Youth Theatre group was set up in September 2007 and is based at Manor College of Technology. It is open to 15-24 year olds from across the town who want to learn more about acting, writing and film.
Mentoring using the methods of acting by Sanford Meisner, Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg and Stanislavski. Participants are taught techniques from all four paradigms which they themselves will use to become the actor they want to be. Youth Theatre is about learning the craft of actor, the subtext, the objectives, the needs of a character. It also develops base skills for interaction, self esteem and confidence.
As well as using these techniques, the group have to adapt scripts and improvise sketches and scenes based upon ideas or even single words. Creativity abounds and they learn how to act without overacting (acting with a capital A).
Confidence Through Creativity
We are proud of all of the young people we deal with, and have seen many of them take their studies into higer education, with a view to making performing a career.
In 2009, we have had 2 shows at the Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre. The North East Talent Show and Kindred Dreams' 'The Rocky Monster Show'
The Red Dreams Unit has taken a lot of our time this year, but we are looking at a number of plays, and musical, with a view to producing them in the near future
We are also looking at bringing in qualified mentors for singing, dancing, screenwriting and film making over 2009 and 2010
We are extremely proud of Lewis Laking and his achievements in 2009
